能面をつけて暮らす集合住宅
"Noh Mask Housing Complex" Daiwa House Competition 17th 2nd Award, 2022
自分として生きるのに疲れた人のための集合住宅。共同生活が営まれ、面ごとに生活役割がある。面は一日ごとに変わる設定で、そのため一日ごとに生活場所や仕事が変わる。他者の面の選択により自分の面の選択と役割は変化し続ける。個人性が移ろい続ける。外部から面ごとに門を通って入る。面は一日ごとに変わるので、今日はぷんぷんしているから般若をつけようと思って帰るとすでに使われていて、別の面を選ぶことも生じる。すると生活の場所も役割も変わる。面をつけると視界が狭まり直角移動などは難しい。30度ほどなら心地よく曲がれるので、経路は30度ほどずつ振って繋いで構成である。

A collective housing project designed for those who have grown weary of living as themselves.
Residents share a communal life, and each mask (men) corresponds to a specific social role. The masks change daily, meaning that one’s living space and occupation also shift each day. A person’s role continually transforms in relation to others’ mask choices, allowing individuality itself to remain in constant flux.
Residents enter through separate gates assigned to each mask. Since masks change daily, one might return home thinking, “I’ll wear the Hannya mask today since I’m in a bad mood,” only to find it already taken—forcing them to choose another mask instead. This choice, in turn, alters their living space and social role.
When wearing a mask, the field of vision narrows, making right-angle turns difficult. However, turning at about 30 degrees feels natural and comfortable, so the circulation paths of the building are composed of segments connected at roughly 30-degree angles.
