By connecting people’s lives through the “metaverse” as an intermediary, this project implements “windows” and “window-sides” that create relationships of just the right distance—neither suffocatingly direct nor isolating.

When one opens a window in their room, they can glimpse the life of someone living across the street, allowing both to sense each other’s presence gently—much like everyday life in European cities.

Conceived as a fusion between the architectural domain (WindowScape) and HCI (Media Space), the project envisions further development in this field. It systematizes the architectural methods required to make the metaverse perceptually “window-like”—such as the necessary depth for spatial recognition, the reflectivity of window frames that makes a window appear real, and the design techniques around the window-side (madobe) that support such perception.
