A new vision for what a hospital can be for terminally ill patients.

If autonomous driving becomes commonplace, then hospital beds themselves could also be autonomous. There is no longer any reason for “the hospital” to remain a fixed building. For example, playing with one’s child in a park could be considered rehabilitation, and eating at a favorite diner could be viewed as hospital food. Patients would connect to medical infrastructure only when truly necessary—“X-ray here,” “blood test today”—while gently circulating through the city.

By continuing to live naturally within the urban environment, patients can also maintain the strength to live with dignity.

In the final stage of life, one could freely visit loved ones, or take a leisurely walk together through places full of shared memories.

The project designs the functions of mobility, the transformation of urban space, and the systemic operations of a hospital to realize this vision.

To die within the city.As the body cools through CO₂ circulation and is carried to a mortuary, the AI data remaining in one’s mobility becomes a form of will, and the deceased begins to drift through the city for a final farewell.The hospital bed becomes a new kind of body, and furniture designed for it is placed in public parks. Around it, children and patients gather, sharing space and time. When necessary, the bed connects to sub-infrastructure, allowing even underused medical systems to be fully utilized.This scene unfolds in an urban space shaped by autonomous driving—no need to drive oneself,no need even for streetlights.
